1. 2005 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc House of Nobilo, New Zealand 12.5%
Truly New Zealand at its best. We really enjoyed this classic screw-capped New Zealand wine from their Marlborough region which is located on South Island near the 42°S latitude line
This Sauvignon Blanc is delicious on its own, or with white meats, pasta or seafood.
We enjoyed a glass on its own before our meal where the exciting flavours could be savoured then we tried it as an accompaniment to a pasta dish. Its lively aroma of gooseberries and passion fruit generously backed up with zesty tropical fruit, citrus and ripe peach enhanced the meal all the more. We gave it top marks for both flavour and smoothness
We obtained this wine from Sainsbury’s priced at £6.99. Now have your say, click here!
2. 2004 Chardonnay McGuigan Estate Limestone Coast, Australia 13.5%
Traditional Oz! The McGuigan family has been making great Australian wines for generations in the premium vineyard region on the limestone coast area of South Australia producing some of the countries finest wines with fresh aromas and intense flavours. This area is well suited to vineyards, with the limestone rock providing a natural filter for the wines
Made from Chardonnay grapes the lively citrus aromas together with fresh lime fruit flavours give this dry white wine a crisp and fruity style.
We enjoyed this Chardonnay served chilled as an accompaniment to a mild Thai curry dish. It can also be served on its own or with a wide variety of dishes such as seafood, chicken or oriental dishes.
Bought from Sainsbury’s at £7.99. Now have your say, click here!
3. 2005 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc Spy Mountain, New Zealand 13%
Classic New Zealand. Another Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand’s Marlborough region, Spy Mountain is a fresh and zesty full bodied wine which can be enjoyed either as an aperitif or with seafood, chicken dishes and salads.
A good balance is achieved through classy fruit acidity which in turn helps enhance the rich fruit flavours of this Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. As with most white wines it is best served chilled, we enjoyed it with a simple dish of Dover sole and an accompanying salad where those tropical fruit flavours could linger on the palate.
Normally retailing at £8.99 we appreciated a special offer price at Sainsbury’s of £5.49. Now have your say, click here!
